You can find gorgeous sea stacks, towering trees and great driftwood for beach combing. These beaches are a bit more of a drive north than the others, but they offer a lovely backdrop for portraits. 

Ruby Beach: South of the La Push beaches but north of Ocean Shores is the picturesque Ruby Beach. It’s rugged coastline with sea stacks and towering trees make this one of the most popular places for PNW beach vibes. The temperatures are usually pretty mild in the summer, making it a great place for family photographers wanting to escape a hot day.

• Stick to a Color Palette: Earth tones, neutrals, and dusty pastels photograph beautifully against the beach backdrop. Avoid bright whites; creams are a great alternative.
• Limit Patterns and Logos: To keep the focus on your family, avoid clothing with logos, characters, or words. Solids work best, but if you prefer patterns, limit them to one or two family members.
• Consider the Elements: The beach can be windy, so ‘flowy’ outfits look fantastic and add a sense of movement to your photos.
• Avoid Too Much Blue: Since the sky and ocean are already blue, it’s best to avoid dressing the whole family in blue. Instead, have one person in blue and complement with warmer colors.
